A well known American teacher called Jeff Carreira recorded a conversation between us about the similarity of our experiences working closely with a guru style teacher in an ashram type community over many years.

I thought some in our community might find it of interest to hear something of the experiences and conclusions reached by two people who lived through that kind of intensity over many years. I do feel it offers a fascinating exploration of the miraculous potential and dramatic dangers of the guru/disciple relationship and intensive spiritual practice.

This type of approach to spirituality is now largely a thing of the past but there may well be valuable lessons to be learnt from it both positive and negative that are relevant for us today.

It represents an important period in my life that in some ways I’m still many years later trying to make sense of and wondering how, given my character, certain things were able to happen as they did.

I hope you enjoy listening.

Love, Tim Dyson
