Ascension or Enlightenment? What’s the difference?

For some time now I have been and still am a person who is ‘in the Light’. I have been drawn to partake of the infinite well of liquid light which is known as the Emerald Heart Light. (And indeed, it’s partner, the Mary Magdalene Light.) It has helped me evolve in a huge way, and the journey has been considerable. Still is!

I am infinitely grateful to David Ashworth, the original founder of the Emerald Heart School of Enlightenment, and all those practitioners, healers, and everybody else who have also taken up the challenge of carrying or channelling the Light into the wider world.

It’s no surprise to say we would all be a lot poorer for it not having been gifted to us by the Divine. I don’t think I would be here now, and although that’s my own path to travel, (and to keep the details to myself!) I can assure you it nearly became a reality back in 2020.

As I realised over time, that there was inevitably going to be more to this journey than the healing stage (which at the time is absolutely all that matters!) the path carefully transmuted itself into a sort of ‘question from above’, along the lines of ‘now you’ve been helped, how can you help in return? ‘

It is this feeling which begins an inner debate, and a soul-searching process begins. Having been retrieved from the brink, so to speak, I began that deep contemplation as to how, what, and why this magnificent, inexplicably God given stream of light energy simply does what it does. How does it exist, function, behave, and to what end? And the answer must be that it is simply that which has no answer, because how do you explain the mind of God? To be brief, the answer is….. that there is no answer! I remember David clearly states that in his early days of experiencing the Light, he got to a point where he just managed to ascertain that he had finally worked it out, only to wake up the next day and the Light decided to change the whole script! Move the goalposts, so to speak!

I personally learnt quickly that the best approach is to trust it, not to try and struggle with understanding it, just accept it and it works wonderfully. Nevertheless, some don’t, but usually they end up with it anyway! Such is the power of the Light.

Some traditions and spiritual groups talk about much the same thing as Enlightenment but call it Ascension. In this way, they are making an interesting comparison to the energetic process of ‘raising the frequency’ of spiritual energy. This is a fundamental part of energetic healing work but has its roots more in esoteric science than in traditional religious beliefs. One could say Buddhism was more akin to the latter, possibly. Personally, I’m not sure that Buddhism is a religion, more of a Divine philosophy.

However, there are interesting similarities. Ascension is after all, what Jesus did, In a ‘blaze of shining light’. There is even a Christian feast called The Ascension. Divine energy at work? Isn’t it also true that we speak of 3rd, 4th, 5th dimensional energy, and even higher?

I am sure that other religious texts also mention similar events of ‘higher energy’ being manifested in prophets, mystics, sages and Gurus. Spiritual groups today often refer to ‘Light Beings’.

It got me thinking about the whole meaning of Enlightenment. So, if we are to know what everything is, we literally have to ‘become’ everything. Buddhist philosophy informs us that it is being in a state of complete harmony with all things, the absence of separation. If we are at one with everything, then what is left to know? So, by acceptance of this state we become enlightened and all knowing. It is through allowing the Light into our lives that we are able to come into this knowing. This heals us, and then transforms us by revealing the Truth of our existence back to us. Which I believe, in turn, compels us to reach the Truth! We eventually become spiritual wayfarers and seekers. So,

Enlightenment or Ascension? Whatever you think best fits for you, it’s your own personal preference!

Nobody ever said it was going to be easy, however!
